Quick Info
Christie has a long history of major moves, beginning at age eleven. Several relocations have required the use of passports and visas. All of them include the challenges of learning a new city and finding community again. She's passionate about building a stable home environment for her family of six despite being uprooted frequently.
Christie has written for Spider, Focus on the Family, Christianity Today, The Kids’ Ark, and Chicken Soup for the Soul, among others. She spent several years as a monthly contributor for an expat lifestyle website. She’s a graduate of the Institute for Children's Literature and a member of SCBWI.
Though originally from the US, Christie currently lives and writes in Lithuania.
A few more details...
Christie’s an adult third-culture kid (TCK) and remembers well the highs and lows of living overseas--and coming back to the States after living in France. (Re-entry highs: peanut butter and chocolate chips; lows: American baguettes and trying to fit in.)
Christie earned her B.A. from Wheaton College, IL, where she met other TCKs, including her husband. Together they decided to put their own kids through the expat experience. So far, Christie and her family have lived in seven US states and four countries.
When not at her writing desk, Christie loves reading aloud to her four kids and exploring ancient fortress ruins. (Hrad Devín in Slovakia and Castelo São Jorge in Portugal are two of her favorites.) She gets pulled into good books and often stays up much too late reading. She hasn’t been able to break that habit since elementary school!
